Good afternoon, Raleigh. It is looking like another winter without any snow. Bummer!

In todayโ€™s Raleigh Rundown:

  • Places with heated outdoor patios

  • A new international destination out of RDU โœˆ๏ธ

  • Where local universities rank for online degrees

Letโ€™s get to it. ๐Ÿƒ

Stories this week

The PNC Arena could generate $3 billion over the next 5 years in Wake County. ๐Ÿ’ฐ

This, according to an impact study commissioned by the Centennial Authority, who is the arena landlord. Over 600 events take place at or around the PNC arena annually. Renovation plans around the arena include developing a sports and entertainment district containing a 5,000 seat music venue, stories, office, a hotel, and housing. Construction is currently slated to begin in 2025.

RDU adds international flights to Panama ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Panama City has become the 10th international destination that you can reach out RDU. Copa Airlines is planning to begin the route in June and will fly four days a week.

When is the Apple campus in RTP going to begin construction? ๐Ÿ“ฑ

In 2021 Apple announced it would be building a campus a 3,000 job campus in RTP. Since then, little has been shared. The Triangle Business Journal last reported in December that it currently appears as if the project wonโ€™t begin until 2026. Apple has continued to invest in other areas in North Carolina, but as of now, RTP will have to wait.
